Peter Rabbit Flip & Fold Mini Album Directions

Peter Rabbit Flip & Fold Mini Album
Directions

Here are the directions for the mini album I shared in my YouTube video.  You can find the video by clicking HERE and you will see the album cover to cover and I also walk you through making it.  The written directions to go along with the video are below.  You will need to watch the video in order to understand what to do with these directions.

Flip & Fold Mini Album Directions
Designed by Janie Rinta

COVER
(2) 6" x 12" pieces of solid cardstock
Score at 2 7/8", 3 3/8", 7 5/8", and 8"
Fold all folds the same direction (either mountain fold or valley fold depending on how you are holding it).
With everything folding inwards to create a book, put the two smallest panels (2 7/8' panels) together.
Using 1/4" strong double-sided tape adhere the two 2 7/8" panels together on the sides only (you can also adhere the bottom but it isn't necessary). Leave top open for the pocket.
To make it easier to match up the two panels before adhering them, turn the cover over and line up the two pieces and put a piece of washi tape along the seam to hold them in place.  Then turn over and adhere the two panels.

SPINE REINFORCEMENTS
(4) 3/8" X 6"
(2) 1/2" X 6"
(1) 1" X 6" (This one is optional)
These are to reinforce the narrow spines (folds).   The 3/8" strips are to adhere to the 3/8" spines, inside and outside.  The 1/2" strips are to adhere to the 1/2" spines on the inside only.  The 1" strip (optional) is to adhere to the outside spine where the two 1/2" spines come together creating the 1" outer spine of the album.  It is optional because you will later be adhering a spine cover so this isn't necessary unless you want extra reinforcement.  These reinforcement strips can be a coordinating solid color OR a decorative paper/cardstock.
Watch video if you need a visual explanation.

INNER PAGES
(2) 5 1/2' x 8 1/4"
Score at 4" and 8"
Fold score lines the same direction (mountain or valley)
Put strong double-sided tape on the outside of the 1/4" section of each piece of cardstock.

On the inside of the cover there will be a 1/2" section next to the center pocket you created when you adhered the two pieces of the cover together.....take your inner page and with the 4" flap and 1/4" flap facing the center pocket, remove the backing from the tape and butt the edge of the 1/4" flap up to the score line at the bottom of the pocket BUT NOT on the score line, and adhere it there.  Repeat on the other side of the pocket with the other inner page.

Absolutely EVERYTHING should be folding inward toward the center pocket.

Before adding any decorative panels, this is the time to either add ribbon or magnets, or both, for the closure.

I wrapped ribbon all the way around the album for security, but you can add it to each side just near where it closes if you prefer.  Just remember, the last panel on each side will be folded to the inside of the album, so your ribbon needs to be attached to the panels that will be the front and back of the album (the 4 1/4" panels).  Be sure to use enough ribbon to allow for tying.  If you are using magnets, they need to be attached to the 4" panels that are flipped to the inside facing each other.

Now it time to add your decorative panels and the spine cover.

SPINE COVER
6" x 2/12"
Score at 3/4" and 1 3/4", or 3/4" on each side leaving 1" in the middle.
Fold both score lines valley fold and this should fit nicely around the spine of the album There will be two 1/2" sections on either side of where you adhered the two panels when creating the cover.....those two 1/2" sections create the 1" spine section that you adhere the spine cover to.  Use a strong double-sided tape to adhere the spine cover to the album.

DECORATIVE LAYERS
This is where the directions end.  You can measure each panel and create a layer the same size, or a 1/4" shorter on each side....it's up to you.  You can add pockets, waterfall elements, or whatever you like.  You can create photo mats to add to any pockets you create, and a photo mat for the center pocket.  Any additions and decorations are up to you.

REMEMBER IF YOU NEED ANY HELP UNDERSTANDING THE DIRECTIONS, YOU CAN WATCH MY VIDEO AS OFTEN AS NEEDED AND MAKE NOTES IN THESE DIRECTIONS TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THEM BETTER.

ENJOY AND.....
HAPPY CRAFTING!!!
