Boundless Imagination - My First Mixed Media Artwork

I just wanted to share my very first mixed media artwork.  I was inspired by a friend of mine, Stacy Evans...Pink Poodle Crafts on YouTube....because of a Beginner Mixed Media Tutorial she made (CLICK HERE to watch it).

Here is my creation

This side view shows the dimension that was created by adding some tissue paper butterflies loosely over the top of the tissue paper butterflies that I had Mod Podged.
HINT: Don't throw away that tissue paper out of gift bags...save it...it will come in handy :)

Believe it or not, the base of this creation is cardboard from a cereal box....I love recycling and upcycling so I thought this was perfect.
I incorporated my favorite colors in this creation, and for texture I used Mod Podge to attach things like gauze, scraps of net tulle, and a torn piece of paper towel that had been used to clean up some of my paint (got that idea from Stacy).  The butterflies were die cut from tissue paper and outlined with a Sakura glitter gel pen.  The saying was stamped onto tissue paper, cut out, and Mod Podged on.  The stamp is from the Tim Holtz "Boundless Flight" stamp set Visual Artistry Collection   I felt that stamped saying was so very appropriate for this piece.

Triple Pocket Card & Double Pocket Card

This card is so easy to make yet looks like it is complicated.  This is the first card I taught in a craft class about 5 years ago...and now I'm going to teach YOU!

To watch the tutorial on making this card

That sweet image is from Bugaboo and you can find her HERE

Both cards pictured are Triple Pocket cards, but in the video I also show how to make the Double Pocket card.

Below are the templates for the pocket liners and front pocket layer if you need them.  Click on them and then "save as" so that you can print them out to use.  Print them out full size.  Printing varies from printer to printer so you might have to experiment or make your own templates.

Challenges I entered....
A Gem Of A Challenge - #187 Add A Butterfly
Brown Sugar Challenge Blog - #237 Rhinestones and/or Ribbon
Cute Card Thursday - #464 Lace or Frills

Bible Journaling For The Creative Soul - The Beginning

Today is my first post in an ongoing series for Bible Journaling that I have decided to call "Bible Journaling For The Creative Soul".  Since it is my first post (and video), I thought the best place to start is Genesis.  It turned out be a more perfect place to start than I originally thought because chapter one is all about CREATION....God's creativity that He passed on to us when He created man in His own image.

The PUFF Technique...aka Selective Embossing

If you are looking for an easy way to add dimension to your papercrafting projects I think you will love this.  You can chose what you want raised / embossed on your image or printed paper and cardstock giving it unexpected dimension, like I did on the card I made for the SBC Valentine Hop.

Never Stop Dreaming

I love MHK Designs and today on the MHK Designs Blog Mynn posted this FREEBIE panel to use (there are rules).  It is so beautiful I couldn't wait to make a card with it and enter it in the MHK Designs Challenge!!!

Without altering the color of the feathers, I wanted to make them stand out so I used Twinkling H2O watercolors (in the same colors as the feathers) and painted over each feather to give them a shimmer.  Then I lightly chalked the white background with blue to give the appearance of sky.

I used a Close To My Heart Shimmer Brush to add subtle sparkle to the sentiment banner, then I add a few sequins and tied Close To My Heart gold & white twine around it for added interest.
