Photo Album - Upcycled Cracker Box

If you all haven't noticed, I'm really into upcycling and using trash to make beautiful creations.  This is just another one of those creations.  I started off with a cracker box and turned in into this!

In my video tutorial I will show you how to make the cover...

how to make a variety of pages with flaps and pockets...

and how to attach the pages to the binding.

I made this adorable shaker for one of the pockets.

This album is also filled with pages that have pictures on them, but you can put whatever you want on them.  It would even be a nice junk journal.  It would also look great if you made it Shabby Chic or Vintage or Elegant or Masculine.  Use your imagination to create it anyway you want.

All of the papers, stamps, and die cuts I used are
and this link will take you to the search page with everything on it.

DOUBLE Easel Cards - Super EASY!!!

I love easel cards...but...I love Love LOVE DOUBLE easel cards!!!  They are so easy for beginners that don't have many tools...AND...there are so many possibilities for advanced cardmakers, like using dies and tons of embellishments!

CLICK HERE to watch my tutorial on making these cards!

Here are a couple examples.

For beginners, this one can be made without a score board or dies.  Yes, I did use stitched dies to cut the oval and the tiny heart....but you can use other things like a button or embellishment of some sort in place of the heart (or any shape).  And in place of the oval with a stamped and colored image you can use a pre-colored image and cut any shape you want.  I used my Anne Of Green Gables stamp and colored it with colored pencils.  I also added some flowers....I thought they were really the perfect touch.

This one might be for the more advanced cardmaker.  I used heart shaped dies and one of my favorite Gorjuss Girl stamps.  I colored the image with colored pencils.  I used my favorite colors...PINK & GREEN.  In my video I show how to do partial die cutting to make shaped cards.

Pop-Up Easel Cards Made Easy

Pop-up Easel cards add that extra something special to a regular easel card and I just love them.  There are so many ways to add the Pop-up to create different looks.

I made a tutorial video that shows the basic easel fold even if you don't have a score board...and how to attach the pop-up element....including how to attach things like the snowmen.

To watch my tutorial CLICK HERE

I loved making this one with the snowmen popping up!  To see what it looks like closed just watch my video....I'm really sorry but I forgot to take a picture of it closed.  For the snow I just tore white cardstock in 3 different heights and chalked the edges with a light blue.  The blue snowflake digital paper and the clip art snowmen are from AMB Illustrations .  Here are the links to Christmas Paper AMB 512 and to Christmas Faces AMB 197.  The scroll is a Cuttlebug die cut, and the "Love Never Melts" is from a CTMH stamp set.

Time for challenges....

There are times when you need a special card to express your feelings.....and these beautiful flowers and sentiment were perfect!  They are from the "Beauty" digital stamp set by MHK Designs.

Fun With Alcohol Ink - Part 3

Hi everyone!!!  I'm back and having more Fun With Alcohol Inks!!!  This technique is just as easy and creative as the other techniques I shared in Part 1 and Part 2.

This time I'm using the Wax Paper Resist technique....and as with the other techniques I've shared, there are so many ways to use it   In my videos I am using glossy cardstock, but  you can use anything non-porous such as ceramic tiles, glass, metal, etc.  If you use glossy cardstock then you can create awesome backgrounds for cards, scrapbooking, and mixed media, or you can make die cuts with character, like I did with the pixie and butterfly above.

MHK Designs August Release Day 4 - Pet Puns

Who doesn't LOVE their pets!!!  MHK Designs new release  Pet Puns is irresistible!!!

I couldn't wait to use this set to make a card for my dear friend that loves cats.  I made this adorable Pop-Up Easel card for her.

I printed the image in dark gray and softly colored it with colored pencils....gray for the kitten, pink for the collar, and green for the eyes.  I used silver glitter gel pen to color the bells on the collar, but it doesn't show up well in the pictures.  I also light chalked with blue around the kitten to give it some dimension.   I used my stitched oval dies to cut out the black oval layer, and around the kitten and a small oval for the sentiment.  I punched a tiny butterfly from the pink paper and inked the edges with "Black Soot" Distress ink so it would match the butterflies on the paper and placed it above the kitten's head so it looks like that is what she is looking at.  On the bottom I added a doily and ribbon, then attached a bow to hold the easel open.  I love Love LOVE how this turned out and almost hate giving it away...but I know my friend will love it.

MHK Designs August Release Day 3 - Marvelous!!!

Flowers are always a MARVELOUS addition to any card or scrapbook layout....and this new digital stamp set, Marvelous from MHK Designs is no exception.

I decided to make a sweet and simple card and let the floral image speak for itself.

I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to create the white background layer of the card to not distract from the floral image.  I used my Cricut Explore's print & cut feature to cut out the flowers, and then colored them with colored pencils.  I gave them a coat of matte Mod Podge to add a subtle shine and make the cutout a little sturdier.  I used my stitched oval dies to cut out the green and white ovals.  I adhered the green oval directly to the card and the used foam tape to pop up the white oval for dimension.  I then partially glued the flowers to the white oval, leaving parts of the flowers and leaves slightly raised for a more realistic look.  And finally, I add a lavender bow and the tag with the sentiment.  I love the way it all came together.

MHK Designs August Release Day 1 - Christmas Frames

I love Christmas and MHK Designs just released a new digital stamp set called Christmas Frames that I absolutely LOVE!!!

There are so many possibilities with this set!!!  Here is one of the cards I made using it.

I cut out the center of the scene so I could turn it into a shaker card.  I put a variety of sequins (white, silver, and irredescent) and some snowflakes in the shaker to add to the winter scene.  I put the shaker off center leaving a strip on the left where I added a silver ribbon & bow and attached the circle with the sentiment on it.  From the moment I saw the Christmas Frames set this is what I imagined.  I absolutely LOVE it!!!

2017 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I just had to enter one more card in the Coffe Lovers Blog Hop....and making a coffee themed card isn't easy for me.  But I gave it a good try and thought I'd make a funny one.

It's pretty simple but  I thought it was funny.
The image is from Sunsational Stamps and is called Not Myself Till That First Cup Of Brew .  I colored the image with colored pencils.  The background I did for another card and loved it so much I used it again....I made it using Gelatos.

Paper Sweeties June Inspiration

I love Paper Sweeties and this Thank You card was inspired by their June challenge.  Luckily I had the perfect die for this... Sweet Cuts Mason Jar from Paper Sweeties :)

I used Gelatos for the background.  I paper pieced the jar and lid and then used Glossy Accents over the jar to give a glass look then sat it on the doily.  It just reminds me of a summer evening picnic.

NEW SHAKER CARD!!! Lace & Pearls Variation

I have been wanting to share this for a while....and now it's time.  A Lace & Pearls shaker card!!!  In some ways it's your typical shaker card....BUT NOT....I have used LACE in place of the acetate normally used.  And I have used 3mm PEARLS in place of the sequins normally used.  These changes create an elegant card suitalbe for a wedding, anniversary, adult feminine birthday, sympathy card, and more.
