It's Spring! - Birthday Box Card

It's starting to look like Spring where I live even though the rest of the country
is starting to look like Summer.
I love flowers and butterflies and thought having them pop out of a box card
would just be perfect.

For a better view of this card you can watch my video
by clicking HERE

To watch my video tutorial on making 2 sizes of box cards
you can click HERE

The butterflies and yellow flowers were stamped with coordinating Distress Ink and colored with Ohuhu colored pencils, and then I cut them out.  I used CTMH Clear Shimmer Brush to give the butterflies a little shimmer, and CTMH Liquid Glass for the center of the flowers.  To make it look like the butterflies were flying instead of being attached to cardstock, I attached them to Dura-Lar (an acetate alternative).  I did the same with the flowers.

This month Crafter's Castle challenge sponsor is Honeybunnies Treasures and she sent me Echo Park "Good Day Sunshine" 6x6 paper pack and Hampton Arts "Sentiments" stamp set to work with.

Thank You Mynn - Blog Hop

For those of you familiar with MHKDesigns, you know the first of the month would usually mean it's time for a new challenge at MHKDesigns, and also for a new set release. But sadly, Mynn, the very creative owner of MHKDesigns, and my very good friend, has made the tough decision to close the blog and challenges so she can focus on what's important to her, being a teacher. The Etsy store will remain open for the time being, but nothing new will be added.

Mynn and I have many things in common, and being a 2nd grade teacher is one of them. She just started teaching this year, and I used to teach 2nd grade many years ago. So I completely understand and support her decision.
The news came as quite a shock to her DT members, but it's a decision they also totally support. And because most of us already had our cards created for today, we've decided to make it a blog hop to say THANK YOU to Mynn for all she's done for us. The hop order is further down the post, but first I'd like to share a little of what Mynn means to me...

Mynn has been a dear friend to me for the past few years and there are times I don't know what I would have done without her. Our friendship goes beyond crafting. But on the crafty side of things, Mynn made my blog what it is today....she gave Crafter's Castle it's true identity. And that gave me my craft identity and confidence to grow. She also was supportive of me starting the monthly challenges we have here on Crafter's Castle and my own design team. In fact MHKDesigns was the sponsor of Crafter's Castle very first challenge. Without Mynn's advice and encouragement I don't thnk this would have happened. So I am beyond thankful to my sweet friend Mynn for all she has done for me....and I'm thankful that we will continue to be friends forever. I love you Mynn!

I am sharing two of my favorite MHKDesigns cards I made
because they both are a message to Mynn.

Please hop along with us and see all the beautiful creations and messages to the lady we all love so much
